Amanda S. Hood, LMFT

I practice therapy grounded in connection and authenticity. I attempt to live my own life guided by the importance of relationships, the knowledge of and care for the self and the acceptance of the entire self…both the parts we like and the parts we wish to change. I attempt to join with my clients as they discover more about who they are, what makes them do the things they do and how they can make changes. It is my belief that change is very possible, especially when we are willing to be flexible, honest and accepting about who we are.

I specialize in meeting you where you are and gently challenging you in a safe environment to help you move toward where you are meant to be. I am eclectic in my therapeutic approach, but tend to lean on humanistic and systemic approaches to change. Basically, I value the power of connection, trust and looking at the whole picture. Sometimes we delve into the past, whereas sometimes it is more important to challenge negative thoughts and behaviors. There is not a one size fits all approach, so I tend to collaborate with my clients as we work together to achieve the goals you set for yourself.

In addition, I have experience in a variety of clinical, healthcare and educational settings. Prior to beginning my career as a therapist, I was an early childhood educator. I bring both my professional and personal experiences to the table when working with clients.

Amanda lives in Macon, GA with her husband and 4 children. She enjoys traveling, running, baking, sewing and spending time with her many animals.
